Assessment

Everyone has potential and an assessment can guide their journey.

We provide comprehensive and accurate educational and neurodevelopmental assessments. The assessment process can be a guide for children, adolescents and adults on their journey to reach their potential. We have expertise with specific learning disorders, attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder, autism and intellectual disability.

The assessment process can provide insights, recommendations, and practical strategies that honour each person’s uniqueness. Our neurodiversity-affirming approach is informed by the belief that assessments should not just identify areas of difficulty but also highlight each person’s strengths and capabilities.

What is the process for assessment?

1. Initial assessment consultation

Plan: Discuss your concerns and provide relevant background information.

This consultation focuses on your or your child’s developmental history, education, learning experiences, social interaction, daily living skills and any areas of challenge. During the session, you will learn about the type of assessment, what to expect, and any other requirements that may be helpful

2. Formal assessment sessions

Plan: Identify cognitive and/or learning strengths and challenges.

Problem solving tasks are completed over required sessions with breaks as needed. These sessions are tailored to the assessment needs and may include additional questionnaires, assessment tools, or a structured interview.

3. Report writing

Plan: Provide a comprehensive written report of the assessment process.

The report is drafted detailing current strengths and challenges, a summary of significant findings, and practical recommendations for support. The report will be provided to you con completion of the assessment process. It is typically available 4 weeks after the assessment.

4. Feedback appointment

Plan: Clarify any questions and discuss the assessment findings in detail.

The feedback session provides an opportunity to unpack assessment findings, understand recommendations, next steps and support strategies.
